RAF Odium Bench

We received an email out of the blue with a strange request for a bench, nothing unusual there I hear you say? But this bench was 4m long 2.5 m wide and only 500mm high, ok we thought, what is this for? Made a phone call to the base and found out the bench was to have batteries on it, not any batteries, but hundreds of them! From Chinook helicopters, no less, and needed to be “super strong”. Ahh now it's starting to make a bit more sense!

So off we went to our very well equipped joinery shop with lots of 4x4 which was housed out on our bench saw and what constitutes a small rainforest of 6x2, all bolted together, constructed in the workshop. It was then dismantled and carted off to Odium to be reassembled. We got the seal of approval from the base commander and lots of questions about making many more, which we look forward to!

We would like to say a big thank you to our new colleagues at RAF Odium for giving us a chance and look forward to many more carpentry projects with you in the future.
